Making a Poster on an 1862 Albion Press.

About the Video

The Florence School of Fine Arts is proud to be the only accredited school in Italy to offer creative letterpress courses to students studying abroad. Watch the video to see our student Joanna Krause create a handmade promotional poster using vintage Italian wood type for the Florence School exhibition showcasing student work in the letterpress and book arts classes.

The Albion Handpress was constructed by Hopkinson & Cope in London, England 1862. The press was fully restored to working order at the Florence School.

The Florence School is continually searching for vintage art making machines in need of restoration which can then be used by students to learn and make contemporary art combining the historic with the present.
